The Velvet Glove

Sparky's handiwork
dripped from the prongs
of a forklift truck

When they opened up the container
the murder scene
smelled phenomenal

Brett McCarthur gasped -
462 cases
in one fell swoop

When Sparky got the call
he was gut-wrenched
at having to kiss goodbye

to months of hard work,
over a million dollars
and his Velvet Glove

finest shiraz
dropped from a great height
never making the ship

Thankfully he wasn't a man
to operate
without insurance

Left Overs

In Sydney yesterday, thousands gathered in support of action to stop human induced climate change and made it clear that if a tax would help, they were for it. A short distance away, an opposing rally was told that a carbon tax was a futile and unnecessary impost on the family budget.

The old irresponsible breed
Who march to Conservative creed;
Are arrogant fools,
Who ignorance rules,
And live in delusion and greed!

Glummery

The Hawkesbury Hills are mysterious
as reflections on this terminating year.
Mists freed from the clutch of belong
eddy and tease
blur edges of truth.

The dreariness
where sex between consenting adults
is front page news.
There's nothing to soothe the soul of discontent,
the burgeoning belief that nothing
ever will get better
as resources drain to puddles
with ever increasing need.

Space dwindles,
contracting to make more room fit in it.
There's little left for creatures
condensed to extinction, the weather
is full force extreme leaving destruction.

Religion and sport our primary halos
make us believe there is worth in their worship
they're icons that keep nations focused
and both should be sainted as
beacons of reason for why we are here.

With television as mentor
we learn what to eat, how to appear,
to wear pretence as a veil
of itself and believe it is real.

and now we cannot touch children
must warn them always to be afraid,
to play outside has dire warnings
enclosed they socialise on their computer.

If as is said, witchery survives, cover your hair
red heads will again become victims of fire
from lack of comprehension.

Seasons Change (for the free people of Libya)

Seasons Change

Slowly, Slowly, for the free people of Libya

Slowly,

Slowly, one by one

the leaves turn

and red returns

where green once held.

Slowly,Acting alone

yet part of the collective

branches call the uprising

until all are one

and the revolt is complete.

But always

it takes one.

Cable

Justice taking form, stop

uber hacker
leading the way,

information for the people, stop

alien tresses, attitude,

no giving up.

All is not lost,

sign of the times,

seismic shift in paradigm, stop
assuage no one

no way back,

genius programs
everything known, stop

Temporary Gain - Permanent Damage

Artesian Basin,
Bringing life
Australia’s dry Outback.

Nature’s wonder
So long forming
Delicate its balance.

The suits, the hats
Seducers all,
Buy time on prime TV

Highly trained to
Placate fear with
Fake integrity

Like the randy
Drunken lout
A lying one night stand,

You have your way
And leave behind
A monster pregnancy.
